How To Get Rid of Your Unwanted Furniture with Skoup?
It can sometimes be difficult to know how to get rid of your old and unwanted furniture. It may be that you have an old dresser in your house that you want to get out of the way, a wardrobe that is falling apart in your bedroom, or a garden bench that is clogging up your garage. It could be that your local authority has specific rules about getting rid of unwanted furniture. Alternatively, it could be that you just find it hard to fit into the back of your car. Whatever your reason for wanting to clear some space, Skoup furniture collection service is here to help you get rid of unwanted furniture.
At Skoup, we offer two different options for people who want to get rid of bulky furniture, whether you are cleaning out your house or removing unwanted furniture from an office. For a near immediate furniture collection solution, we offer a bulky waste collection through our Van It service – a useful man-with-a-van style service that can help you get rid of unwanted furniture quickly, efficiently, and in a safe way. Alternatively, for longer periods of time or renovations, where the unwanted furniture may be a part of a larger remodelling or DIY project, you may want to consider hiring a skip for furniture collection. This can be done through our service Skip It.
To help you decide which service is right for you, you can explore both in detail in the table below. The table gives a very brief overview of each furniture collection service, covering the key points of using a van compared to using a skip to get rid of unwanted furniture:
Van It Furniture Collection
- Same day unwanted furniture collection available
- Pay per furniture item or per load size
- Perfect for collecting unwanted furniture
- Minimal environmental impact
- Able to take almost every type of furniture including mattresses and WEEE
Skip It Furniture Collection
- Provides waste furniture collection for projects lasting up to 2 weeks (after 2 weeks additional charges may apply)
- Small, medium, and large skips available
- Perfect for home renovations or larger DIY projects with lots of unwanted furniture
- Able to take bulky furniture and building refuse, but can’t take mattresses or WEEE
We recommend, before you order your furniture collection however, that in some cases there may be a nearby charity that would like the furniture donated instead. This is especially the case if your furniture is in good condition, so it is always worth checking before getting your unwanted furniture collected, whether there is a local charity who may also collect furniture for free.
Unwanted Furniture Collections with Van It
No matter what furniture you are trying to get rid of, here at Skoup we offer an unwanted furniture collection service called Van It. Van It is an all-encompassing unwanted furniture and bulky waste collection service, aimed to help you get rid of furniture without breaking the bank. Designed to save you time and money, if you book before 12 noon, we can pick up your unwanted furniture the very same day.
Van It, is by far one of the most convenient ways to get rid of unwanted furniture. Through Van It, we provide a service designed around removing bulky items and waste such as furniture from your life. Whether you want to get rid of a small item of furniture like an old office chair, a far larger piece of furniture such as a bed frame, or a multitude of different items, we are here to help.
How Much Does Unwanted Furniture Removal Cost?
One of the many benefits of using a van to collect unwanted furniture is that you can pay by the item or by the amount of space needed in the van to dispose of your furniture at a responsible location. This can end up saving you a lot of money, as you don’t need to pay for a whole van if you only need one or two items collecting. Our unwanted furniture collection service is flexible, so you only pay for the space you need and space starts from as little as £75.
What Furniture Can Be Collected Using Van It?
At Skoup, we are registered carriers for many specific types of waste, meaning you can rest easy knowing that we are able to safely and securely dispose of your unwanted furniture in a responsible way. Because of this, there is a long list of furniture types that we can collect, ranging from relatively small items to items that are far larger.
The list of furniture items we can take includes, but is not limited to:
- Armchairs, Office Chairs, Dining Chairs, and Garden Chairs
- Sofas – One Seater Sofas, Two Seater Sofas, Three Seater Sofas and Corner Sofas
- Bedroom Furniture including Beds, Mattresses, Wardrobes, Cupboards, Dressing Tables, Chests of Drawers, Vanity Desks and Mirrors

- Dining Tables and Desks
What Can’t Be Removed With a Man-In-A-Van Unwanted Furniture Collection?
At Skoup we are all too happy to help you with domestic waste, rubbish and unwanted furniture. That being said, there are a few limitations to what we can collect. For instance, if you are renovating then we are unable to collect loose rubble, pressurised containers, plasterboard, or paint cans. You can find a full list of items we can and can’t collect using the Van It service here.
Unwanted Furniture Disposal with Skip It
If you are doing a home improvement project or a larger renovation, then you may be thinking about hiring a skip to remove unwanted furniture and other items. Skips can be a fantastic tool to use when you need a solution that will remain at your home or office for a while. Whilst they are not as immediate as having a van pick up a piece of unwanted furniture, they do have their benefits when it comes to wanting to throw away large amounts of refuse. Whether it is unwanted furniture or scrap materials from a renovation, skips can be very useful to have on site.
At Skoup, we offer furniture removal skips based on three different sizes – mini, midi, and maxi. Through our Skip It service you can keep a skip for up to 2 weeks to remove all your unwanted furniture. If you need a skip for longer than 2 weeks then please feel free to call us to discuss your needs in more details. For longer than 2 weeks, additional costs may apply. Skips can be picked up a minimum of 48 hours after ordering.
What Furniture Can Be Put Into A Skip?
Skips really come in handy when you have a large amount to get rid of, and this is especially the case when building an extension or having a full home clear out. With that in mind they can be used for scrap metal or wood, as well as for large amounts of unwanted furniture. When it comes to unwanted furniture, almost all forms of traditional furniture can be placed in a skip, however, there are a couple of limitations.
Mattresses cannot be placed in a skip, and neither can WEEE products. This means that items such as televisions, refrigerators, freezers and washing machines cannot be placed in a skip. A van is better suited for such unwanted furniture collections that contain WEEE. You can find out more about what can and cannot be collected by a skip here.
